Crato é uma vila portuguesa que está situada a 23 quilómetros a Este da cidade de Portalegre, no Alto Alentejo, Portugal.

O coração desta localidade é a Praça do Município, onde poderás admirar a Varanda do Prior (século XVI), a Câmara Municipal (século XVIII) e o Palácio Sá Nogueira (século XVIII).

Caminhando pela rua José da Gama chegarás à Igreja da Misericórdia (século XVII) e à Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Concepção, originaria do século XIII, mas reformada no XVIII. A partir daqui podes seguir pela rua Dr. Teixeira Guerra para chegar a um palácio manuelino/barroco do mesmo nome, onde se casaram dois reis: D. Manuel I e Dª Leonor (1518) e D. João III com Dº. Catarina (1525).

Após o palácio aparece o imponente castelo, cujas ruínas hoje formam um estupendo miradouro.

A 1 quilómetro a norte do Crato, vale a pena visitar o Mosteiro de Flor da Rosa, com uma igreja com ameias do século XIV, convertido em Pousada desde 1995.

Crato is a Portuguese town located 23 kilometers east of the city of Portalegre, in Alto Alentejo, Portugal.

The heart of this town is Praça do Município, where you can admire the Varanda do Prior (16th century), the Town Hall (18th century) and the Sá Nogueira Palace (18th century).

Walking along Rua José da Gama, you will arrive at the Igreja da Misericórdia (17th century) and the Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Conceição, originally from the 13th century, but reformed in the 18th century. From here, you can follow Rua Dr. Teixeira Guerra to reach a Manueline/Baroque palace of the same name, where two kings were married: D. Manuel I and Dª Leonor (1518) and D. João III with Dº. 1 kilometer north of Crato, it is worth visiting the Monastery of Flor da Rosa, with a 14th-century crenellated church, which has been converted into a Pousada since 1995.
